Alpha Service Notice

PkgSeer is currently in alpha/pilot stage. The service is provided for testing and evaluation purposes. Features, availability, and these terms may change as we develop the platform.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using PkgSeer ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

PkgSeer provides package intelligence services including:

  • Package search and metadata across npm, PyPI, and Hex registries
  • Security vulnerability information
  • Dependency analysis
  • Project dependency tracking
  • MCP server for AI assistant integration
  • CLI tool for command-line access

3. Account Registration

To access certain features, you must create an account using GitHub OAuth. You are responsible for:

  • Maintaining the security of your account credentials
  • All activities that occur under your account
  • Notifying us of any unauthorized use

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or its systems
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service
  • Scrape or bulk download data except through provided APIs
  • Exceed rate limits or abuse API access
  • Misrepresent your identity or affiliation

5. Intellectual Property

The Service and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by PkgSeer and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

Package data, documentation, and metadata displayed through the Service remain the property of their respective owners and are subject to their original licenses.

6. User Content

When you upload project manifest files or other content, you grant us a license to process and store that content to provide the Service. You retain ownership of your content and can delete it at any time.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. We do not warrant that:

  • The Service will be uninterrupted or error-free
  • Security or vulnerability information is complete or accurate
  • The Service will meet your specific requirements
  • Data will be preserved indefinitely

You are solely responsible for your dependency decisions. PkgSeer provides information to assist your evaluation, but does not guarantee the safety, security, or suitability of any package.

8. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, PKGSEER SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR USE, ARISING OUT OF YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

9. Service Availability

As an alpha service:

  • We may modify or discontinue features without notice
  • Service availability is not guaranteed
  • Data may be deleted during development or maintenance
  • We reserve the right to limit or terminate access

10. Third-Party Services

The Service integrates with third-party services (GitHub OAuth, package registries). Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies.

11. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.

12. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your access to the Service immediately, without prior notice, for conduct that we believe violates these Terms or is harmful to other users or the Service.
